The Tutor Behind Your Child's Success

Welcome to Bright Bridge 11+ Tuition. I'm a specialist 11 plus tutor with over 10 years of private tutoring experience, helping students across different regions prepare for grammar and independent school entrance exams. I also support families preparing for 13 plus entry.

My approach is simple: every child learns differently. I take time to understand each student's strengths, weaknesses and learning style, then build a structured, tailored programme around them. I break topics into simple steps, use clear examples, and move into guided practice and exam-style questions — all in a supportive environment where children feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

I studied Economics at university and went on to qualify as a Chartered Accountant, a member of a professional accountancy body. Alongside many years of tutoring, I've built a professional career in finance — work that demands clear explanation, structure and attention to detail. It's a combination that shapes how I teach: focused, patient, and genuinely tailored to each child. For me, tutoring isn't just about passing an exam; it's about helping children become more confident, independent and motivated learners.

The Bright Bridge Method

Strong results don't come from worksheets alone — they come from a clear, proven structure. Every student I work with follows the same five-stage method, tailored to their ability, pace and target schools.

1

Diagnose

Every journey starts with a free assessment to pinpoint exactly where your child stands — their strengths, the gaps, and how they learn best. No guesswork, just a clear starting point.

2

Build Strong Foundations

We close the gaps first. I break each topic into simple, manageable steps and use clear examples, so your child genuinely understands the material rather than just memorising it.

3

Master Exam Technique

This is where I specialise. We drill Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning strategies, time management and question-spotting — the skills that turn a good student into a confident one.

4

Practise Under Pressure

Timed papers and full mock exams under realistic conditions build accuracy, speed and calm — so the real exam feels familiar, not frightening.

5

Exam-Ready & Confident

By exam day your child walks in prepared, practised and self-assured — knowing exactly what to expect and how to handle it. That confidence is what makes the difference.

Three Simple Steps to Begin

Starting is easy and completely no-obligation. Here's exactly what happens when you get in touch.

01

Get in Touch

Fill in the enquiry form or message me directly. Tell me a little about your child and the schools you're aiming for — I'll reply within 24 hours.

02

Free Assessment

We arrange a free, no-pressure assessment to understand your child's level and learning style, and I'll recommend the best plan for them.

03

Begin Lessons

Once you're happy, we begin — online or in person, one-to-one or in a small group. Structured, supportive lessons tailored from day one.

Questions Parents Often Ask

A few of the things parents most want to know. Have a question that isn't here? Just get in touch — I'm always happy to help.

When should my child start preparing for the 11 plus?
Ideally, around 12–18 months before the exam — typically the start of Year 5 for an 11 plus. This gives enough time to build strong foundations without pressure. That said, every child is different, and I've helped students make excellent progress on shorter timelines too. The earlier we start, the more we can do calmly and thoroughly, which is why places fill quickly in the run-up to exams.
What if my child is behind or struggling in certain areas?
That's exactly what the free initial assessment is for. I identify precisely where the gaps are, then build a tailored plan to close them step by step. Many of the students I work with start out lacking confidence in a particular area — Non-Verbal Reasoning is a common one — and go on to find it one of their strongest. There's no judgement, just a clear plan forward.
How do online lessons work?
Online lessons are delivered through my own bespoke tutoring software — purpose-built for 11 plus learning, not a generic video-call tool. It includes a shared interactive whiteboard and exam-style practice built in, so lessons are just as engaging and effective as in person. All your child needs is a laptop or tablet and an internet connection. Many families actually prefer it for the flexibility and zero commute.
Do you guarantee my child will pass or get into a specific school?
No honest tutor can guarantee a place — entry depends on many factors, including how a child performs on the day and how competitive a particular school is that year. What I can promise is that I'll give your child the very best preparation: strong subject knowledge, sharp exam technique, and the confidence to perform at their best. My track record and the families who recommend me reflect that commitment.
What's the difference between one-to-one and group sessions?
One-to-one lessons are fully focused on your child and progress at their exact pace — the most personalised option. Small group sessions (2–4 students) are a more affordable alternative that still keep lessons focused, while adding a collaborative, motivating element that some children really thrive on. Both are available online or in person, and I'm happy to advise on which would suit your child best.
Which areas and schools do you cover?
In person, I tutor across Peterborough and surrounding areas (preparing for the Lincolnshire Consortium grammars such as Bourne and Spalding) and across North, West and Central London (for schools including Henrietta Barnett, QE Boys and St Michael's). Online, I work with families anywhere in the UK. Wherever you are, the preparation is tailored to your child's specific target schools and exam format.
How much does tuition cost?
Fees depend on the option you choose (pay-per-session, monthly block, intensive block, or group sessions) and whether lessons are online or in person. Because every child's needs are different, I discuss pricing individually once I understand what your child needs. Get in touch and I'll talk you through the options along with your free assessment.

Places Are Limited — and They Fill Quickly

As a one-to-one tutor, I only take on a small number of students at a time. This is what makes the tuition genuinely personalised — but it also means places are limited, especially in the months leading up to the 11 plus exams.

Families who start early give their child the biggest advantage: more time to build strong foundations, master reasoning skills and practise under exam conditions. Once this cycle's places are filled, the next opening may not be until after the exams.
